Don't know what to tell you. It sounds like your husband has a few problems to work out. Whether he is committed to working on them is another question.

It seems to me it isn't too uncommon for an 18 year old to have a conflict with his (real or step) father and move out of the house if he has somewhere to go. It sounds like your son has done well in spite of the problems at home, that's something to be thankful for.
