I am sorry about your pain. I agree with everything that Bernd said!!!!

I just wanted to add that forgiveness will set you free. You may not be able to consider that at this time and that is fine! You need to go at your own pace and in a process that works for you. Ultimately, however, I feel that forgiveness is the thing that sets ALL free!! Truly!! What has helped me look at my parents in a different way was seeing them as a child - struggling - trying so hard to feel loved but not feeling it - feeling let down - dissapointed - in your father's case, I am sure he was abused. Imagine, a sweet innocent child and all of a sudden BAM (Just like you felt).

I feel that Bernd has great insight in helping you thru this. I agree with you - regarding what your therapist said - that revenge isn't the answer. (my opinion). I feel that forgiveness sets one free.

How does one go about something like that? Support group - a type of church (a very postive - NO GUILT - church is called UNITY or RELIGIOUS SCIENCE. I am a member of RS and it has helped change my life INCREDIBLY! I believe prayer will work for you.
