When my psychiatrist talked about medications, she mentioned that one of the side effects was decreased sex drive and/or decreased "ability to perform." (She put it more delicately than that, I don't remember the exact terms.) She said the literature says 10-20%, but she has found that to be a side effect in maybe 40% of cases.

I said, "Now that WOULD be depressing." So she put me on a different medication instead. I'm not sure if it was my own process or the medication, but within a few weeks I did feel better.

Too bad I didn't get depressed during the first few months after one of my children were born. Then my wife probably would have liked me to have that side effect. : )
